Our Statement of Faith and Belief

Our faith and belief are as follows:

  • HOLY BIBLE

We believe in the Holy Bible. We believe the Holy Bible is God’s Word and It has no human origin but God. We believe the author of the Holy Bible is God through the inspiration of the Holy Spirit. We believe the Holy Spirit inspired holy men of God to write the Holy Bible. We believe the Holy Bible is inerrant and infallible, completely true and relevant to all human race, generations, creeds, colours, races and tongues. We believe in the entire Scripture in the Holy Bible, the Old and New Covenant. We believe the central theme and purpose of the Holy Bible is the Salvation of man through the Lord Jesus Christ. – 2 Timothy 3:10-15; 16-17, 2 Peter 1:20-21, Psalm 12:6, Matthew 24:35, Psalm 119:160, John 17:17; Ps. 119:105.

  • ABOUT GOD THE FATHER

We believe that there is only one God, the father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the first person in the TRINITY, the Creator of the heavens and earth, both visible and invisible creatures -Gen. 1:1; Ps. 86:9-10; Is. 43:10-11; John 1:1-3. Only God will be in existence forever. Ez. 3:14; in God every creature receives life -John 5:26.

  • ABOUT JESUS CHRIST

We believe that JESUS CHRIST OF NAZARETH is the Son of God; He is God revealed in the flesh. Through Him, all things were created. John 1:1-14; John 14:9; Matt. 1:18-25, Is 9:6; Is 53:5-6. We believe in His death on the Cross, and resurrection, by which He brought redemption – Is. 53:4-10; I Pet. 2:24; John 10:11; Gal. 3:13, Matt. 20:28; I Cor. 15:3; Rom. 4:25; II Cor. 5:14; Heb 2:9; Heb 9:26.  We believe He is the second person in the TRINITY, who came to the world purposely to save sinners according to the scriptures. He has existed throughout eternity, one of the persons of the Holy Trinity. He is the only begotten Son of God and the beloved of God. His coming to the world had been foretold by prophets. He came in the flesh and to die for us. He was conceived of the Holy Spirit and born of the Virgin Mary without sin. He lived a perfect life, preached the gospel of the kingdom of God, performed miracles, healed the sick and raised the dead. He voluntarily surrendered his life to his enemies to be crucified. He then resurrected and ascended to heaven to become our high priest. Jesus Christ will return to establish the kingdom of God on earth, and rule as King of Kings and Lord of Lords with His saints forever.  Matthew 17:15-17; John 1:1-14; Acts 2:32-33; Hebrews 4:14-15, Revelation 1:13:16

  • ABOUT HOLY SPIRIT

We believe that the Holy Spirit is the third Person in the TRINITY. He has the same power, the same glory with God the Father and God the Son – John 14:16-17; John 15:26; Matt. 3:16; Acts 13:24. He is one with Father and the Son who is to be worshiped and served. Three Persons that become one are the source of blessings to all the living creatures in Heaven and on earth – Matt. 28:19; II Cor. 13:14; I John 1:5-7. The Holy Spirit has a great work to perform. He Teaches, He Speaks to men, and bears witness in us – Acts 16:6-7; He performs the work of regeneration for man- John 3:5-6; He also performs the work of Sanctification in the born again souls until they are fully sanctified – John 16:8; Eph 1:17-19; II Thess. 2:13; I Cor. 6:11. This same Holy Spirit endows believers with gifts they can use – I Cor 12:7; He empowers one in the Lord. Acts 1:8.

  • CHRISTIAN LIVING, BIBLE TEACHING AND THE HOLY BIBLE

We believe that all Christian teachings for Christian living, Conduct and Attitude are established and guided by the Holy Bible – 2 Timothy 3:10-15; 16-17.

  • ABOUT TRINITY

We believe in TRINITY. We believe that One Truine God exists in three persons i.e. God the Father, the Son, and the Holy Ghost are one God. We believe the persons are one indivisible, inseparable, co-existing, co-habiting, distinct and yet one eternal being, identical in nature, equal in power and glory and having the same attributes and perfection   Matthew 3:16-17; 2 Corinthians 13:14; Hebrews 9:14; 1 Peter 1:2; 1 John 5:7– Gen. 1:16-29; Matt. 3:16-17; Matt. 18:19.

  • ABOUT MAN

We believe that God created man in His image. We believe in God’s love towards man and want to fellowship with man till eternity. We believe that by disobedience and transgression, man fell from the glory of God to the depths of sin.  We believe that the consequence of man’s sin brought all mankind to condemnation, hence, man became sinners by nature having been born after the fallen image of Adam. In his fallen state man is incapable of pleasing God or having any relationship with Him. Ordinarily, every man is totally inclined to evil, guilty before God and without excuse, deserving the condemnation and judgment of a just and Holy God. Genesis 1:26-31; Genesis 2:7; Psalm 139:14; Col. 1:16; Psalm 51:5; Mark 1:15. Man has always enjoyed the love of God and this love of God keeps driving God’s mercy calling every man unto repentance and Salvation in the revealed Christ Jesus.

  • ABOUT JUSTIFICATION AND SALVATION

We believe that all men have sinned and come short of the glory of God. We believe that Man in his fallen state cannot approach God or save himself and therefore needs a saviour. Jesus Christ came to save man from sin. He is without sin, but He took our sin upon Himself and died in our place.  He rose again from the dead, that we might be forgiven and receive eternal life. The word salvation in Greek means “soteria” which is translated as “saving” or “deliverance” and preservation from destruction and judgment. We believe there is no other other than through the Lord Jesus Christ. To appropriate salvation, we must acknowledge our sins and repent from them; we must believe that Christ died for us, and rose again; we must receive the risen Christ as our personal Saviour, and we must publicly confess Him as our Lord.  Hebrews 9:29, Romans 3:10, 23, Acts 3:19, Romans 10:8-13, Jude 3:24.

  • ABOUT REPENTANCE AND SALVATION

We believe that God has called all men to repentance. Men who have not accepted the Lordship of Jesus Christ over their lives and are not born again are being called upon through the love of Jesus Christ to leave and abandon their sinful ways and take up the eternal life that the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ have brought and delivered to mankind for Salvation of their souls. Repentance is the sorrow of a godly man for his sins with the decision to abstain from them – Acts 3:19; 20:21; II Cor. 7:10; Mark 1:15; Is. 55:7; II Chron. 7:14; Ezek. 18:21.

  • JUSTIFICATION BY FAITH FOR NEW BIRTH

We believe in God’s Grace through which believers are saved by faith and justification is one of the works of Grace that believers receive and are cleansed from sins and can thereafter stand before God as though we have never sinned. Acts 13:39; Rom. 3:25-26; Rom 5:1; I Cor. 6:11; Gal. 3:24; John 1:12-13; 3:3; II Cor. 5:9; Titus 3:5; I Peter 1:23; Acts 10:43; John 3:3,5.

  • ABOUT RESTITUTION

We believe in Restitution as one of the fruits and proof of repentance. Restitution is the act of restoring anything to its rightful owner; act of giving an equivalent for loss or damage. Restitution makes a person pay back just debts, restore stolen or misappropriated articles, uncover his crimes, and confess his lies. This is to be done whether the person injured knew it or not – God knows.  Genesis 20:1-18; Genesis 32:9-32; Luke 19:8-10; Philemon 7:21; Acts 24:16. Whatever cannot give us a clear conscience before man and God should be restituted without delay – Lev. 6:1-7; Luke 19:8; Prov. 28:13; Acts 24:16.
Restitution helps believers to maintain a clear conscience before man and God.

Note:   Restitution that would implicate others or bring injury or harm to others needs care and God’s wisdom. In such cases, it is necessary to seek counselling from a faithful, experienced, competent, mature Christian teacher and preacher (who, of course, believes and teaches “the whole counsel of God”).

  • ABOUT DIVINE HEALING

Healing without medicine is Biblical – Matt. 4:23; Ps. 103:3; Sickness is caused because of the fall of man. The force behind this is Satan – Job 2:1-9; Luke 13:15; Acts 10:3. But JESUS came to destroy the works of the devil – I John 3:8. Christ purchased our soul from the curse of sin. He bore our infirmities and carried our sorrow – Matt. 8:15-17. By His stripes, we are healed. Is 53:4-5; Gal. 3:13; I Peter 2:24. Healing without medicine is of the Gospel – Matt. 9:35; Mark 6:10-18. We read that the twelve Apostles and the seventy disciples combined healing with their Ministry of the Gospel – Luke 9:1-2; Luke 10:1-9. The Lord commanded us to go into the world, just to teach the nations alone, but that we should also heal the sick – Matt. 28:19-20; Mark 10:1, Mark 16:15-18.
We could obtain our healing in these four ways: 1. By individual prayer – John 14:13-14 2. By two people (or a group of people) who have agreed to pray by faith – Matt. 18:19-20. 3. By the laying of hands on the head – Mark 16:18; Acts 9:18; Acts 28:8. 4. By the Ministry of the Elders, anointing the sick with the prayer of faith – James 5:14-15 Special Notice – Before we can work by healing without medicine, we would have sanctified our life to the doing of the Law – Rom. 6:13, 19; Rom. 12:1; Matt. 16:24; II Cor. 8:5, 15. Many miracles were performed by the Apostles – Acts 9:33-42; Acts 19:11-12; Acts 28:8-9.

  • ABOUT BAPTISM OF THE, AND MANIFESTATION OF THE HOLY         SPIRIT

The baptism in the Holy Ghost is a supernatural endowment with power from heaven to equip the Christian for effective witness and service. The initial evidence of Holy Spirit Baptism is speaking in an unknown tongue as the spirit gives utterance. The unknown tongue is a prayer language given to the believer, understood by God but unknown to man except by revelation. It enables the Christian to build up his own spiritual life by direct and continual communion with God. It is the gateway into a life in which both the gifts and fruits of the Holy Ghost are manifested. In the New Testament church, this experience was considered normal for all believers.   Joel 2:28; Luke 3:16; Acts 2:38-39; Acts 19:2; Mark 16:17.

We also BELEIVE is the manifestation of the works of the Holy Spirit. We BELIEVE in miracles, signs and wonders as regular doings of God and often experienced by members of the body of believers in our Church. We BELIEVE in the five-fold ministry. We believe that believers should and must bear and manifest the fruit of the Spirit. We BELIEVE the gifts of the Holy Spirit for the perfection and edification of the Saints and the Church.

  • ABOUT PRAYER AND FASTING

We believe in Prayer. We believe Prayer is a command and communication between believers and our God. We believe through Prayers, supernatural interventions are invoked in the affairs of man. Prayers can bring divinity to intervene in humanity and yield supernatural results, miracles, signs and wonders. A Christian without condemnation of heart has a right to thank God and be in adoration and in prayer unto the Lord always – Zek. 12:10. His soul thirsts for God – Ps. 42:2. The Holy Spirit helps his infirmities in prayer – Rom. 8:26. We believe in praying in the Name of JESUS – John 16:23; I Tim. 2:25. Without faith our prayer shall be powerless before God – James 1:6-8; Heb. 11:6. Those who are unable to pray annoy God – Is. 42:22; Is. 64:6-7. Much trouble and danger are encountered in the absence of prayer – Zeph 1:4; Dan 9:13-14; Hosea 8:13-14. We are commanded to pray and not to faint and to pray without ceasing – Col. 4:2; I Thess. 5:17; I Cor. 7:5; Luke 18:1. The Apostles put prayer first in their life and they spent much time in prayer – Acts 6:4; Rom. 6:4; Rom 1:9; Col. 1:9. It is God’s plan and order that we should pray to receive all the goods He has promised in His treasure for us – James 4:2; Dan. 9:3; Matt. 7:7-11; Matt. 9:24-29; Luke 11:13.

We BELIEVE in fasting as a practice of faith in experiencing deep Spiritual intimacy and experience with God. We BELIEVE that fasting combined with Prayers strengthens our Spiritual stand against all the negative vices and works of the devil.

  • WATER BAPTISM

We believe in water baptism by immersion in the Name of Jesus, the name of the Father, Son and Holy Ghost – Matt. 28:19. The teaching is revealed in the New Testament and all Christians must obey this rule of the Lord – Acts 2:24; Acts 16:15; Acts 18:8; Acts 19:4-5. Every saved soul automatically qualifies for Water Baptism – Acts 8:29-39; 16:18-23.
We believe Water Baptism stands for a sign and an example with the following understanding:

  1. It is an outward sign, an example of the true repentance of a sinner from his or her sins. Acts 2:38; Acts 22:6
  2. Anybody who is baptized is joined with Christ in His death, burial and resurrection – Rom. 6:1 – 23; Col. 2:113. Therefore anybody baptized is dead to the world and the evils thereof
  3. It symbolizes separation we are separated from the old life of sin and defeat. We come out of the water to lead a new life of righteousness and victory, made possible by God’s power in us.   Mark 16:16; Matt 28:19-20; Acts 2:38-41; Acts 8:37-39; Romans 6:4
  • ABOUT MARRIAGE

We BELIEVE that our God, through His Word, the Holy Bible ONLY recognizes that Christians and believers in marriage between believers should be between a man i.e. a male gender (the husband) and a woman i.e. a female gender (the wife); and DOES NOT PERMIT our Pastor(s) to conduct, join or recognize any marriage institution that is not between a male and a female (i.e. the Couple). Genesis 2:24; We BELIEVE and value marital fidelity, where husband and wife can depend on each other to provide spiritual, emotional, and intimate needs. Proverbs 5:15-19; 1 Corinthians 7:3-5, Galatians 5:19-20; Hebrews 13:4.

We BELIEVE that Marriage is honourable in all – Heb. 13:4. We BELIEVE the Word of God does not support the co-habiting of intending couples. Intending couples must abstain from premarital sex and must maintain sexual purity to avoid guilt and offending God. Members who wish to marry could do so in the church after fulfilling all Biblical Principles including parental consent, the provisions of the law that are not contrary to the Word of God; and must not follow the worldly pattern that encourages unchristianly drumming and dancing, drunkenness or lavishing and non-prudent and wasteful financing of marriage ceremony with expensive and financially burdensome acquiring of clothes and entertainments; I John 2:15-17; Rom. 12:2.

We BELIEVE marriage is a lifetime relationship between a man (the husband) and a woman (the wife) is for a lifetime, “until death do them part”, and that the Bible teaches MONOGAMY. We BELIEVE in a peaceful home, a peaceful marriage where the love of Christ overwhelms the couple devoid of violence and abusive conduct or behaviours.

We BELIEVE the Holy Bible teaches that Separation particularly when it involves life-threatening conduct and habits including abusive behaviours;  and Divorce is permissible when a life partner has committed adultery. Even then, the two of them (the one who initiated the divorce and the one who was divorced) should remain unmarried while both are yet alive – Matt. 5:31-32, 19:9; Mark 10:11-12; Luke 16:18; Rom. 7:2-3; Mal. 2:13-16; Gen. 2:18: Matt. 19:4-6. We BELIEVE, the Bible uses this to teach believers about repentance (the one that was wrong in the marriage) and forgiveness (the one that was wronged in the marriage) amongst couples to reunite together.

  • ABOUT HOLY COMMUNION (THE LORD SUPPER)

We BELIEVE in the Lord’s Supper and that believers are commanded to celebrate and have it regularly. We believe the elements i.e. bread and the fruit of the vine are the symbols expressing our sharing in the divine nature of our Lord Jesus Christ. It is a memorial of His suffering, and death and a prophecy of His Second Coming. Jesus Christ commanded the church to do it in His remembrance. Luk.22: 14-19, Acts 2: 42, 46, 2 Peter 1:4; 1 Corinthians 11:26. It is instituted by our Lord Jesus Christ shortly before His death. – Luke 22:17-20; Matt. 26:26-29; Mark 14:22-25; I Cor. 10:18, 21; Acts 2:42; 20:7; I Cor. 11:23-30. We BELIEVE in the supernatural and divine power that the partakers of the Holy Communion experience i.e. healing, deliverance, unity, peace and divine intervention. In RCCG, Holy Communion is usually celebrated in the evenings.

  • ABOUT CHILD DEDICATION

We BELIEVE in Children’s dedication. Believers of our Lord Jesus Christ need to dedicate themselves to the Lord. In the same vein, when they have newborns or offspring, their newborns and children should be dedicated to God for the Lord is Holy – John 17:19; I Peter 1:15-16. If we want God to be our Father, we must separate and dedicate ourselves and our offspring unto God – II Cor. 6:17-18. God called us unto Holiness – I Thess. 4:7; Rom. 12:1-2. Child dedication is a sign of faith expressed by believers in handing over their children to God for preservation, believing that God watches and keeps safe whatsoever is handed over to Him. 1 Sam. 1:22; Luke. 22:22-24; Matt. 19:13-15.

  • ABOUT THE JUDGEMENT SEAT OF CHRIST

We BELIEVE that the judgment seat of Jesus Christ is the judgment of believers. It is not a judgment of condemnation but a judgment of reward where believers will be rewarded according to their faithfulness in service to God, quality of their Christian walk and the use of God-given gifts and talents. Romans 14:10, II Cor. 5: 10, I Pet. 4: 17.

  • ABOUT THE DEVIL

We BELIEVE in the existence of the devil, who seeks the downfall of every man. We BELIEVE he brought sickness, sin and death into the world. Gen. 3:1-16 and seeks the destruction of those who exercise their faith in the Lord Jesus. Matt. 4:1-11; James 4:7; I Peter 5:8. The devil has several unclean spirits over whom he governs – Matt. 12:24. We BELIEVE he fell from grace having been created as LUCIFER by God. We BELIEVE a time would soon come when he shall be thrown into the pit and chained for one thousand years- Rev. 20:7-9. After this, he will be put into the lake of fire where he will remain suffering together with his followers forever and ever. Rev. 20:10.

  • ABOUT LAYING OF HANDS AND ANOINTING THE SICK FOR   HEALING

We BELIEVE in the laying on of hands and anointing the sick on the head in the Name of the Lord and that prayer of faith shall save the sick – James 5:14-16; Mark 16:17-18. We BELIEVE that believers in Christ can pray, lay hands on the sick and anoint the sick and the sick shall be healed, and that freely we receive the power, and freely we should give.– Matt 10:8. We do not receive money or charge money before we offer prayers and anointing for anybody.

  • ABOUT SWEARING

We BELIEVE that a believer in Christ should not Swear and Curse. Jesus commanded us to bless. “Bless, and curse not” Rom. 12:14. Swear not at all, neither by Heaven nor by the earth or any other swearing. But let your yes be yes, and No be No, so that you do not run into condemnation – Matt. 5:34; James 5:12

  • ABOUT BLASPHEMY

We BELIEVE that the Bible teaches believers in Christ not to blaspheme the Holy Spirit. Blasphemy involves a total rejection of Jesus Christ and the work of grace powered by the Holy Spirit for Salvation. Blasphemy is abandoning of faith in the Lord Jesus Christ whether by someone who was once a believer but now renounces his or her faith in Jesus Christ, or by someone who has never been a Christian believer but still abandons the grace that God has given by the Holy Spirit in abundance for Salvation – Hebrews 2:3-4; Mark 3:28-30

  • ABOUT ANOINTING AND MANTLES

We BELIEVE in the move of the Holy Spirit for Spiritual empowerment and intervention. This is called or referred to as anointing. Anointing is the move of the Power of the Holy Spirit. We BELIEVE that anointing can manifest in different forms, it can be the move, shifting, carrying and unusual motion or acts (This could look dramatic in the physical sense) as inspired by the Holy Spirit. We BELIEVE the move of anointing and its acts should be consistent with what the Bible teaches.

We BELIEVE the Holy Spirit moves and can also move or be transferred through anointed people and or anointed objects like Handkerchiefs, aprons, and oil; particularly as a connection point of faith to the supernatural power of the Holy Spirit. A touch or contract with any anointed person or object can ignite the transfer of anointing. We are aware that the use of anointed objects in demonstrating or transferring of anointing has been proliferated by many fake Preachers; notwithstanding, this has not affected our belief, instead, our faith is reinforced by seeing God doing wonders through anointing and contact with anointed objects with the understanding that, if there is no original, there cannot be a fake. We are original.

  • ABOUT REBELLION AND OBEDIENCE TO AUTHORITIES

We BELIEVE that rebellion against divinely constituted authority is not the Will of God for believers. Those who rebelled against divine or spiritual authorities usually suffered great consequences.– Num 12:1-10; Num. 16:1-4,32. The Bible teaches that we should obey our Spiritual leaders and submit to them – Heb 13:17; Joshua 1:16-18. The Bible also discourages rebellion against government authorities but commands us to obey them except when and in matters that God through the Bible has commanded us otherwise – Acts 5:29. We are enjoined to pray for people in authority, elders, parents, rulers, government leaders and kings – 1 Peter 2:13-14; Romans 13:1

  • ABOUT PROPHECY IN THE CHURCH

We BELIEVE in prophecy. The Bible teaches and recognizes the office of Prophets. Prophets are believers, filled with the Holy Spirit and graced in the gift of the Holy Spirit to prophesy and also operate in the office of Prophets. All prophecies must be validated by the Word of God and the discerning Spirit. 1 Thessalonians 5:21; 1 John 4:1

  • ABOUT RIGHTEOUSNESS

We BELIEVE that all believers, born-again souls, are children of God and are clothed with a white garment which is the Righteousness of Christ. It is received freely, a gift unto them that lead a victorious life – Rev. 19:7-8. We BELIEVE the Bible also teaches us to put on charity, which is the bond of perfectness – Col. 3:13-14. We believe that all our members must be moderate in adornment. “Not with braided hair, or gold or pearls, or costly array, but let it be the hidden man of the heart, in that which is not corruptible, even the ornament of a meek and quiet spirit, which is in the sight of God of great price” I Tim. 2:8-9; I Peter 3:1-6; Gen. 35:1-4; Ex. 32:1-8. We also BELIEVE that as believers whose righteousness in Christ Jesus, Jesus also demands from us to walk in the way of righteousness He represents. We should remember that he that does righteousness is Righteous – 1 John 3:7.

  • ABOUT DRESSING

We BELIEVE that the Holy Spirit that all believers have received will lead them decently and to decency in dressing. We encourage our members to dress in a manner that will bring glory to the name of Jesus Christ. We BELIEVE believers in Christ should not dress to expose their bodies naked in public places including at the Church. We BELIEVE precious seeds are usually inside their fruits and are well covered and protected, and in the same vein, a believer should be an epitome of respect, dignity and honour in their dressing within the society. We BELIEVE the purpose of dressing or wearing clothes on our bodies is for glory and beauty – Exodus 28:2; Exodus 28:40; Zechariah 3:1–4

  • ABOUT DISCIPLINE

We BELIEVE that the Bible teaches believers about discipline and submission to authorities and that authorities are not terror to good works but to evil works. Unruly behaviour and deliberately and continuously doing wrongs and erring is not encouraged. All members are encouraged to maintain a good conscience, and good conduct, and avoid being offenders or perpetrators of what is not good. If any member is found disobeying the teachings of the Word of God or going against the norm and caught in error, he may be disciplined. We BELIEVE that the love of Christ does not discipline us forever, – Psalm 108:8-13. We BELIEVE in enforcing discipline in love – Galatians 6:1. We may implore both Private and Open discipline as we consider it beneficial to the erring member. If any backslider would not admit discipline and restitute his way, he may be disciplined openly as it is written in Matt. 18:15-18. Rebuke them that sinned before all that others also may fear – I Tim. 5:20; I Cor. 5:1-13; II Cor. 2:6-11; Heb. 12:5-12.

  • ABOUT THE CHURCH

We BELIEVE that the assembly of believers and born-again souls is called the Church of God – Eph. 1:22; Col. 1:1-18; Eph 3:10; 5:24-29. The assembly of the believers, the sanctified souls in Christ Jesus, Those who we call the Holy people of God – I Cor. 1:2; Acts 14:23; Phil. 4:15; Acts 13:28. Therefore all that God has called to gather together in a place and fed with the Word of God – Acts 2:41-47; They accept Christ as the head of the Church. They gather from time to time to worship God in truth and Spirit to share communion. Their major assignment is to spread the Gospel of Christ to all Nations – Matt. 28:19. We BELIEVE the Church is also a place for those whom God wanted to save their souls to the Kingdom of God and added to the Church – Acts 2:47. This therefore encourages us to know that the Church may comprise of mixed multitude, the saved and the awaiting to be saved.

  • ABOUT NAMING OF CHILDREN

We believe that after a child is born, the child should be named with prayers and thanksgiving to God before witnesses. We BELIEVE the parents of the child can invite the Pastor to name the child when they are fit and ready for us if they are not able to do it on the 8th day.

  • ABOUT THE RESURRECTION

We BELIEVE that there is the resurrection of the Body. Jesus taught us plainly that the buried body will be raised from the tomb on the last day Job 5:28-29. Paul also explained this to us in Acts 24:15; I Cor. 15:22, 42-44; Phil. 3:21; Dan. 12:2. Only believers who died in Christ will be at the resurrection with those who belong to Jesus when He appears; but the sinners shall resurrect in hell, a place of torment for people whose names are not found in the Lamb’s Book – Rev. 20:4-5; John 5:28-29; Rev. 20:12-15.

We believe that believers who sleep in the Lord are with Christ already – Phil. 1:21-23; I Cor. 5:1-9. Paul said that it is better to come out of this flesh and be with the Lord forever in our Heavenly home. Further still, he emphasizes that ” But I would not have you to be ignorant brethren concerning them which are asleep that ye sorrow not even as they which have no hope” I Thess. 4:13-18.

  • ABOUT WORSHIPPING THE DEAD

We BELIEVE believers must not worship the dead. There should not be offerings or ritual celebrations and worshipping of the dead. Such that do that become idolaters – Deut 14:1.

  • ABOUT PRAYING TO AND WORSHIPPING OF ANGELS

We BELIEVE believers must not worship the Angels. There should not be offerings or ritual celebrations, worshipping of and praying to angels. Such that do that become idolaters. Angels are ministering spirits to the believers – Heb 1:14. Believers operate in a higher Spiritual realm above the angels and, thus, have authority over the angels.

  • ABOUT THE SECOND COMING OF JESUS CHRIST

We BELIEVE that Jesus Christ will come back. When Jesus Christ first came to earth about 2000 years ago, His coming fulfilled every detail of all the prophecies of the Bible relating to that event His coming. When he left this earth to return to heaven, He promised His disciples that He would come back to earth again. Apart from these promises which Jesus Himself gave, there are many prophecies throughout the whole Bible concerning the Second Coming of Christ more than there are about His first coming. Since the prophecies of His first coming were exactly fulfilled, We in the RCCG believe that the prophecies of His Second Coming will be fulfilled in the same way.   John 14:2-3; Acts 1:9-11; Titus 2:13; 1 Thessalonians 4: 16-17; 1 Corinthians 15:51. We are expectant.

We BELIEVE the second coming of the Lord Jesus is in two advents.

  • ABOUT THE FIRST ADVENT OF THE SECOND COMING (THE    RAPTURE)

We BELIEVE that the first advent will be an event referred to as RAPTURE. The exact word “RAPTURE” is not found in the Bible but the description of events named as RAPTURE is unmistakably seen in the Bible. It’s an event when Jesus will come in the air and the dead in Christ will rise first and believers who are alive will be translated with glorified bodies to meet Christ in the air (cloud) and shall remain with Him. The word rapture simply means sudden snatching out of this world of the believers. The actual word used in the bible is “caught up”. This event marks the beginning of the seven-year reign of Antichrist.   1Thessalonians4: 13-18, 1 Corinthian 15:23, 51-58, Phil 3:2-21, 1 John 3:1-3, Luke     21:31-35.

We BELIEVE that the second advent will be to reign on earth during the Millennium reign.

  • ABOUT THE SECOND ADVENT OF THE SECOND COMING        (MILLENIUM REIGN AND CHAINING AND PUTTING SATAN IN PRISON)

We BELIEVE that the second advent of Jesus’ second coming to earth will be to reign on earth during the Millennium reign. He would set up His Kingdom with the Holy people (the saints) for one thousand years – Rev. 20:1-6; Rev. 2:26-27. This one thousand years will be entirely different from any kingdom ever seen on earth. The Christ Kingdom will experience peace all over – Is 65:18-20. There will be no death – Is. 65:18-20. There will be no poverty – Mich. 4:4; Is. 65:21-23; Christ will be the ONLY KING in the Kingdom – Dan. 2:44-45; Dan. 7:13,14,22,27. It will be a time of theocratic kingdom. This period will come after the seven-year reign of the antichrist. After the Lord Jesus Christ has descended from heaven to earth and destroyed his enemies at the battle of Armageddon, He will then set up His holy government which is going to be worldwide. It will be a time of peace, joy, holiness, glory, comfort, justice, full knowledge and the removal of curse and sickness.  Isaiah 11:1-10; Isaiah 35:1-10; Zechariah 9:9-10; Zechariah 14:16-17;  Revelation 20:1-15. At this time of the millennium reign, Satan will be chained – Rev. 20:2-3, and it will be the time of peace and blessing to mankind also – Is. 11:6-9; 65:25; Hosea 2:18; Zech 14:9-20; Is 2:2-4

  • ABOUT THE GREAT TRIBULATION

We BELIEVE that there shall be great tribulation which shall happen between the seven years of the reign of the antichrist. This time of this great tribulation shall be for seven years between the time of the first advent of Jesus’ second (Rapture) and the second advent of Jesus’ second coming – Matt 24:21; 22:29; Rev. 9; Rev. 16; Is. 26:20-21; Mark 13:19; Jer. 30:7; Daniel 12:1; Malachi 4:1. We BELIEVE It will be the darkest time the world has ever known. It is “the day of vengeance of our Lord.” Man’s cup of iniquity is filled to overflowing, and God brings judgment upon the earth for man’s rejection of His son. During this period, the people of Israel will turn to Christ, when they will be reconciled to God through Him whom they rejected and whom they asked Pilate to crucify.   Daniel 9:24-27, Isaiah 61:2, Revelation 19, 1Thessaloians 1:10, Revelation 3:10

  • ABOUT THE GREAT WHITE THRONE JUDGMENT

We BELIEVE that there shall be a great white throne judgment. This is the ultimate end of sin and rebellion against authority and the almighty God. Sinners, unbelievers and those that deny, refuse, mock and despise the Salvation once made available to them through the Lordship of Jesus Christ shall be cast forever into the lake of everlasting fire. This ultimate judgment of the Great White Throne is for unbelievers only. The only ones who may escape this final judgment are those whose names are written in the Book of Life. The names recorded in the Book of Life are the names of those who during their lifetime on earth availed themselves, through faith, God’s mercy and grace and salvation through Jesus Christ and uphold, kept the faith up to the very end; those who put their faith in Christ’s atoning sacrifice have passed through their own appropriate judgment before the judgment seat of Christ – not for condemnation but for assessment of their reward.    Revelation 20:11-15; Galatians 3:10; Ecclesiastes 12:14; John 5:24; 2 Peter 3:9.

  • ABOUT ETERNITY AND ETERNAL LIFE IN THE NEW HEAVEN AND     THE NEW EARTH

We BELIEVE the Word of God that teaches that after judgement, this wicked world will be removed. God will create a new Heaven and a new earth in which HOLINESS will exist – Matt. 24:35; II Peter 3:12-13; Rev. 21:1-3; Is. 65:17; 66:22. The new earth and the new earth will be better than anything this world has ever known or seen. The new earth will be the Christian heaven. It is the glorious eternal home of born-again believers. Matthew 24:35; Revelation 21:1-5; John 14:1-3; Revelation 22:1-5; 2 Peter 3:10. Believers will their eternity in a new heaven.

  • ABOUT ETERNAL PUNISHMENT

We BELIEVE that the Bible teaches us that there will be eternal punishment as well as eternal life – Matt. 25:46. The wicked, God’s offenders, people that rejected Salvation in Christ will be sent to a fiery lake of fire made of sulphur, to be tormented both day and night for eternity. The punishment will continue forever and ever – Rev. 14:10-11; Luke. 16:24; Mark 9:43-44.

  • ABOUT HELL AND LAKE OF FIRE

We BELIEVE that HELL is a temporary place of torment for the Sinners, the wicked and the unbelieving. The lake of fire (commonly and interchangeably referred to as hell) is the final abode of Satan and those sinners who reject Jesus as their Lord and Saviour. It is the place of eternal torment for the devil, his angels and all those who reject Jesus Christ as the Saviour.  Rev.19: 7, Luke 16:19-31; Rev. 20:10,15; Matthew 25:33-34; John 14:1-3; Rev 7:15-17
